IS THERE POWER IN MY WORDS?

IS THERE POWER IN MY WORDS?

Hi Pastor Caio, I like the way you address the Kingdom’s issues. I need some help cause I am a little confused. I am re-reading for the third time “The Power of Your Words by Don Gossett. The book is wonderful but when I compare it with the scriptures I get astonished. Let me get straight to the point: I had a girlfriend some years ago. I told her about Jesus and she committed her life to Him. So did her family. Now she lives north and I live south. She broke up with me but I have deep in my heart that she is the wife that God intends for me. Whenever I pray for a family or a wife, I think of her. But she doesn’t want me anymore! What to do then? I’ve been praying for one year and a half to have her back. She is still single and I keep her in my heart as the right person for me. I want the Holy Spirit and God to touch her heart so that one day we can get married. God can do that, can’t He? According to Don Gossett’s book, we only have to ask God. It is written in John 14:14, John 14:13, John 15:16, Mathew 7:7, João 16:24, Philippians 4:13, Psalms 37:4, Jeremiah 29:11-14 and James 4:2. As far as I understood, I can ask God to bring her back to me. According to the Word, I have to ask what I want. But what to say of Philippians 2; 13, Proverbs 16:1,2? What is the right thing to do? Until which point can I ask God? Is there a limit for asking? Can I be that specific in a prayer? Hugs, __________________________________ Answer: My brother: Peace and Confidence! Yes, there is power in God. There is power in the Word of God! Our words carry some power, overall of self-motivation and others’ motivation. They irradiate energy. This is power. But I am sorry to inform you that there is no magical power in your words. Any “faith” carries some power. Just some power. The mind is producer of energy that enlivens us all. But that is all there is to it. There is nothing more than that. So, I honestly have a pair of things to tell you: 1. Leave this book on the bookshelf and read the Bible. Read it with pleasure and faith, not only to reach a goal. On the contrary, it will be magic not devotion. There is much magic among evangelicals. The biggest part of the “evangelical church” has become pagan in its conscience of the spiritual world and has surrended to the white magic of words, decrees, confessions, words of order, and much “spiritual sacrifice”. All this is paganism. 2. Leave the girl alone. She simply doesn’t like you enough for dating and getting married, only that. And more: God does not answer these kinds of prayers. The answer of God to a prayer who asks for a wife is her love for you and your love for her. If there is no answer in love, don’t get married by faith even if she wants to. It would be hell to both of you. The world is full of girls, my dear. Go for them! Look around you and let the girls see you. Concerning your wife to be, pray with your eyes and heart wide open. Love performs its own miracle! Nobody needs to pray for love to come. It is worthless. Not even prayer meetings can make it be born. God determined that this is a “mystery”, an inexplicable election, a kind of predestination, a blind and lucid decision of the heart. My friend, this is my opinion. I advise you with the serenity that this will do good for you! In Him, who chose us in love, Caio Original Title: HÁ PODER EM MINHAS PALAVRAS? Translation: Wanda de Melo Link: letters
